Ah, you are onto it. It outputs it correctly, just displays the word
"chapter" in LyX - transforms it when outputting.

There is the language setting for the document, but
there is a language setting for the LyX user interface too.
If you set LyX to use Danish menus, then inserted textrstrings
like "chapter" will become "kapittel" on screen too.
On linux machines, you normally don't set this up in LyX. You just set
the machine to use Danish, and then LyX will notice this automatically.
If you want only LyX to switch to Danish, set the LANG environment
variable before running LyX.
