PDF error converting to loadable format

I have a horrible feeling I have asked this before, but on Ubuntu 9.10 
Lyx won't show PDF images in the document (they compile OK).

They show up on Windows OK, so I assume its some set up on Linux that I 
need to tweak.

Can someone point me in the right direction.
