Run LyX, open the .lyx file, and try View > (something) to see if you
get a finished document. The choice of "something" depends on what
format you want for the final document. For instance, if you want to
end up with the document as a PDF file, I'd try View > PDF (pdflatex).
If you get what you want, you can either save a permanent copy from the
viewer program that LyX opened (for instance, Acrobat Reader if it's a
PDF file), or you can use File > Export > (something) with the same
choice of "something" to generate an output file in the same directory
where the .lyx file lives.
