This means that the font Palatino is not installed in your LaTeX-distribution.
To fix this
- open an Internet connection
- use the LyX menu Tools->Reconfigure
This will install all LaTeX-packages supported by LyX and thus also Palatino. (I'm wondering that
this was not already done when LyX was installed.)
The installation process can take minutes. When it is finished, restart LyX and
it should work.
If not, open MiKTeX's package manager (you find in in Windows' Start menu under Programs->MiKTeX)
and install the package "palatino".
