Hi, I have helped an author (not a geek but rather an everage office user) to use Lyx for writing her book (in french) and the feedback I got is very positive (this should not come as a surprise, but I thought it was still worth sharing). She is using the memoir class, and the latex preamble contains the chapter layout config and versals definition.
The book is published by self edition (http://thebookedition.com) and a big advantage of Lyx was that going from the A4 layout used during the preparation to an A5 layout used for the published book took exactly 2 minutes. There has been a problem at one time with hyphenation, but due to some language packages missing. Once those packages were installed, hyphenation was fine. The author is so enthousiastic about Lyx that she started a series of blog posts on her blog (in french: http://evedennels.com ) about Lyx. I wanted to share this positive experience, and thanks all Lyx contributors! Keep the good work! Raphaƫl -- Web database: http://www.myowndb.com Free Software Developers Meeting: http://www.fosdem.org
