Hi Perry, I know of no hands-on training you can get in NYC area, and several have recommended the tutorial, which is good. LyX has two levels: 1) Working with the styles contained in your document class 2) Making your own styles #1 is so easy that a cocker spaniel can do it after smoking ten joints. Spend a day with the tutorial and you'll be doing #1 like you've used LyX since your third birthday. #2 is astonishingly difficult, an order of magnitude more difficult than making your own styles in MS Word or WordPerfect or even OpenOffice. I've written a lot about #2 at http://www.troubleshooters.com/linux/lyx/index.htm. I'd suggest as you find yourself needing a new environment or character style, create it simply in your layout file using copystyle as much as possible, so that you can at least mark up everything with the correct styles. Later you can tweak the styles in order to make them look how you want. HTH SteveT Steve Litt Recession Relief Package http://www.recession-relief.US Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/stevelitt
