If you access to a Windows machine, and it's important enough to you to spend some money on, I recommend word2tex and tex2word. This will handle more than just plain text (i.e. mostly works for equations as well), and can handle big, book-length projects. This is overkill for casual use, but if you get stuck with 14 book chapters in the "wrong" format, it's certainly worth considering. Just Google to find out more. ...dave case
