On Mac, the solution is to enter the following in the Terminal: /path/to/LyX.app/Contents/MacOS/lyx So, if you have LyX in the /Applications folder, you'd type: /Applications/LyX.app/Contents/MacOS/lyx Then LyX should launch, and its console output will appear in the Terminal window. BH
