I agree that LyX uses more resources than it should on Mac -- but only when it's actively doing something. (Typing and opening files are the two big culprits as far as I can tell.) However, in my experience it does not use much when sitting idle. Are you sure it's LyX consuming CPU power in your case? -- Try running Activity Monitor.app (/Applications/Utilities/) to see what's responsible for the CPU usage in your case. BH
