If all lyx 1.6.* version don't work for you, perhaps you can try the portable version---Lytex(a experimental portable Lyx which is developed by zoh...@yeah.net not by the official), what you have to do is just extracting them into your local disk and then run lyx, what 's more, u can edit the tex source file in TeXworks(a simple syntax-highlight tex-editor) and convert tex into pdf as well.
