The image, in .png format, can be viewed using 'display' and is seen by
the Insert->Graphics dialog box. But, when I select that file from the

Not only is this (another) new glitch, but it makes no sense to me and
I've no clue what is wrong or how to fix it.

If you View > Source, does the path to the image file look correct?
