I was too rash. The problem is the following: In hyperlinks the "#" character must not be escaped as command "\#". While it must be escaped when the hyperlink is in the footnote. This is not easy to handle and I'm not sure if we can do something about it since the behaviour seem to depend on the hyperref package version. Please open a bug nevertheless.
