The file is corrupted, maybe by truncating, external edit or insertion of an invalid character (via drag and drop or whatever). I cannot spot the wrong character in the attached example. You might try the divide-and-conquer method: move parts of the document into another buffer until you are able to save. Refine until you find the "guilty" character(s). Günter
