I like the software but as other people already have noticed, there is something wrong with the spell checker; it's just not doing a great job. In my case, I have it on a computer with Debian, which serves me as a VPS. Then I port Lyx from VPS onto my windows vista machine through X11. The problem is that the spell checker window sometimes shows up --and if so, it does it only at the beginning of a session-- but mostly it quits totally. Apart of that, I wish there was a real time spell checking. My system works well with other applications like gedit or emacs, so the problem is most probably on Lyx's part.
