Good morning,

I am quite new to Lyx and I have a problem that I think, it should be quite
common. I am writting a paper for a conference and obviously it must be written
using their specific format. The conference provide authors with a
their_class.cls LaTex class file, a their_bib.bib, bibtex bibliography
reference format, a sample sample.tex file and a sample .pdf file. They also
provide a MS Word document template.

I have tried to import the sample.tex to Lyx (File->Import->LaTex (plain)), but
I get the message: An error occurred whilst running tex2lyx -f "sample.tex"
"sample.lyx".

I have also tried to make the LaTex class provided by the conference team
available from Lyx. I have tried this in two ways: first, I have copied the
.cls file to (...\LyX15\Resources\tex). Then I have opened Lyx again and used
the reconfigure function (tools->Reconfigure). But when I create a new
document, the new class doesn't appear in the list of available classes.
Second, I have copied the .cls file to the base class folder of my MikTex
installation (...\MiKTeX 2.7\tex\latex\base), keeping the file copied in the
previous step. I have used the reescan feature for LaTex classes (tools->Tex
Information->Rescan), but the new class is missing.

Could you give me any help or directions about how to import a Tex "document
template" to Lyx?

Thank you very much and I look forward to hear from you soon.

P.D.:
O.S. Windows XP SP2
Lyx 1.5.4
MikTex 2.7
