First, let me say that I am thrilled to be using 1.6.0. The
developers have really been working hard!
I just downloaded and installed 1.6.0 beta 3 and opened a file
where I had several subfigures inside a wrap float. In 1.6.0, there
is actual support for subfigures (no more hack), but it seems that
the conversion does not take place automaticallly. Subfigures are
broken when opening an older (e.g. 1.5.5) version LyX file. I had
to go through and manually re-add my subfigure captions and rework
the figures altogether.
There were issues with the conversion and reversion of subfigures
until very recently. I think some of these were fixed in recent
commits. But Jurgen seems to think he missed one, so we'll have to
sort that out still.

Yes, but conversion/reversion should be a separate issue from creating
one. I have had problems converting wrap:Figure with subfigures (from
1.5.x to 1.6.0), but I have ALSO been unable to create one from
scratch in LyX 1.6.0.
So there may be multiple problems here...?
