See my reply to Marcelo's koma-script suggestion for why tweaking the
document classes isn't really in my gameplan...

But I'm beginning to think that the base size range limits I was
lamenting about isn't so much hard coded into LyX as perhaps dependent
on the installed document classes???

Now that's an interesting concept... 

I can't say I'm fond of the idea of using an actual adobe proprietary
tool on my linux box. (I much prefer open source stuff)... 

But do you know if the linux version of acrobat is willing to print the
"zoomed" image as displayed rather than printing the original unscaled
image??? Maybe I'll have to make an exception and install it... Or
better yet if by chance you know of an open source linux pdf viewer that
will print the scaled image, I'd rather try that first.

I ask cause I already tried using a custom page size of 4.25"x5.5" and
then using kpdf to zoom the resulting pdf to 200% but printed output
wasn't scaled...
