I think you might need to check your LaTeX installation. It appears
that you're defaulting to some sort of DocBook document class, which is
a bit peculiar. Do Help>LaTeX Configuration, and see what you get. And
you might also try launching LyX from a shell and then:
Tools>Reconfigure. You should get a lot of output in the terminal that
may report some error messages.
