Some years ago when I wrote my manual, I also informed Herbert and
helped to fix bugs in his manual. Both manuals should contain
basically the same, while mine explains how to use the LaTeX tricks
with LyX.
I can't answer that in any detail, because I haven't had time to go
through the new math manual. But having a quick look, Herbert gets into
more find-grained detail about display, listing, for example, the
various TeX registers like \abovedisplayskip that affect output. I don't
see why you should talk about that in the math manual, It's too low
level for most LyX users. But a pointer to Herbert's guide "for more
information" makes a lot of sense.
