You can split them yourself with
Insert --> Math --> AMS Multiline environment.
He was asking about inline equations. The multiline environment works
only for display equations.
LaTeX will normally break such equations for you. Presumably, in this
case, there is no good place to break it, and LaTeX is refusing to do
so. I don't myself know how to force a linebreak in such cases, other
than by splitting the equation between two equation boxes.
