I am on a Mac, and I use LyX 1.5.2 to write my thesis. I found a document to help me with the biblatex installation (http:// www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg59349.html), but I can't follow all the instructions.

First, do I really need to put natbib.cbx into texmf/biblatex/cbx/ under my home folder or is there some other folder I should put it into instead? Because there is no such folder as texmf under my home folder.

Just to add one note to Jürgen's answer: on Mac, the user's texmf folder is located at ~/Library/texmf. Biblatex should go in there. (And do get the latest version -- 0.7 -- as Jürgen suggested.)

Things now seem to work insofar that I get no error messages; initially it was looking for biblatex.sty and something else provided by etoolbox. But I think I am still missing something. I have no control over how the citations look: they all look like e.g. "(Machiavelli:1966fk, pp. 297-299)". Instead it should be "(Machiavelli 1966, 297-299)". Setting style, bibstyle or citestyle doesn't help. I wonder if natbib or jurabib is somehow still active.

The other thing is that there is no bibliography. \printbibliography gives me just the heading, which by the way is in English ("Bibliography") although the document language is set to Finnish.

I am grateful for any ideas that you might have to fix the problem! (Please cc me the response as I am not on the list.)

Timo
