I got this message once. My problem was that, despite I had a running installation of Aspell on my computer, when I installed LyX 1.5.2
Aspell was installed again, but without the dictionaries (I think I cancelled their installation, since I already had them).
You will probably have an Aspell directory under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ or C:\Documents and
Settings\<<username>>\Application Data\Aspell. That directory should have a Dictionaries sub.directory that will probably be empty. If
this is the case, download and install the dictionaries you need from: http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/Aspell6
