The phantom feature is a math feature so it should be accessible via the math toolbar. The math toolbar contains much more expert stuff than placeholders, but that doesn't matter. I was btw. requested to draw the placeholders when this feature was implemented, at least due to this it would be waste of my artistic genius :-)
