I reported the failure with a make log on the developers list last week in a thread started by someone else reporting what looked like a similar failure on a Sun with lyx 1.4. If the compilation issue can be addressed then it should be possible to identify what is failing within the code. I am now using g++ (albeit an Apple modified one from 2003) and so the usual problem of every C++ compiler being different should hopefully not apply.
