Further attempts and I have found another issue. I can't export to plain latex either. I get the message "There are spaces in the path to your BibTeX style file. BibTeX will be unable to find it." Then the program crashes. There are of course spaces in the path on Windows, "Program Files" is the obvious one, but it doesn't seem to have a problem exporting to pdf.
