Margins

I cannot get the margin machine to work and would appreciate any 
suggestions.

I run ver 1.4.4 on an old HP laptop. Use Vector 5.8 as the operating 
system.  Never had this problem with Fedora.

It will recognize margin settings (Document-Settings-Page-Margins) on my 
old documents but if I create a new document, lyx just ignores the 
Margin settings and always starts printing at the left side of the page.

I have run reconfigure and texhash without success.
