Hello LyX Users,
I don?t know if this is known yet. Lang and C_TYPE set to de_DE on both Windows and Linux
systems. Trying to use the word "Massenverhältnis" within inline math:
- using Windows version 1.4.4-4, in the LyX frontend, the umlaut "ä" is not
shown in italics, but in std face. It is missing altogether in the DVI-output.
Yes - this happens if you type such text directly into math.
- using Linux version 1.4.3, in the LyX frontend, the umlaut "ä" is shown in
italics, but also is missing altogether in the DVI-output.
Do I have to use ERT or something to get umlauts within inline math printed?
ERT is not needed. I use the lyx-1.5 beta, but 1.4 can also can do this.
Mark the work "Massenverhältnis". Bring up the math panel.
In the math panel, press the font button. (The one with all
the different a's on it.)
You should get several options for math fonts here, select
"normal text mode". Your "Massenverhältnis" will now be
normal upright text, and it will print fine, including the "ä".
If you really want it in italics, use the normal way of making
italics. (I.e. mark the text and use ctrl+e or the emphasize button.)
Usually, one want the text to not be in italics in order to
differentiate text and math though.
