Hi Paul,
thanks a lot for your reply. I tried all of what you said and everything seems
to work perfectly but still I'm not able to start LyX, that is, I get still the
same error message I had before. Do you have any other suggestion?
Thanks again
Francesco
You can try the following. First verify that LyX installed a stripped
version of Python in <LyX root>\python. Then open a DOS window and
maneuver to the directory in which you want LyX to install your home
directory. By default LyX will use C:\Documents and Settings\<your
login id>\Application Data\LyX1.4.x as its home, so you would want to be
in C:\Documents and Settings\<your login id>\Application Data. From
there, run
<LyX root>\python\python.exe <LyX root>\Resources\configure.py
and see what happens. (A small propitiation to the gods in advance
would not hurt, and I would keep an adult libation handy either to toast
success or for solace.) If this produces (in ...\LyX1.4.x) a file
textclass.lst with length greater than zero, you have a pretty good shot
at being able to run LyX. If not, perhaps something in the output will
tip us what is wrong.
