Yes, I use hyperref and backref for the references.
I think using pdflatex ("View->PDF (pdflatex)") should fix this.
Alternatively, using breakurl might also fix this:

I t is working - the option breakurl=true solved the problem (I had to
change it in the layout file as in the preamble, it clashed with the in
the preamble loaded hyperref package)
