Hi alltogether, I run lyx 1.4.3 on debian etch with two problems:
(1) "locale de_DE could not be set" - no German Umlaute in the menus, however, the document text is ok
(2) scrolling (up, down) uses 100% CPU and is very very slowly (computer freezes for some time but no crash)
The system is a thinkpad T41p and I do not think that this has something to do with X or gnome/ kde/ fluxbox, because if - via ssh from another computer where xubuntu is running - a different (the xubuntu version) is used on the T41p, there are not problems at all (german Umlaute are ok and the scrolling is ok, too). Due to the successful trial via ssh and X-forward this points to another root of the problem (not X, the ati driver etc).
