pdf is not format suitable for editing. its binary, afaik the objects of the 
document
dont even need to bee saved in linear order etc...

if you alter only one line on title page, why it should change ?
maybe diffing postscipt versions would be better.

havent seen any really functiong pdf editor under linux.
still if you insist on pdf editing you can

1. export just the single page you repaired and exchange it 
with the wrong one using pdftk utility.
or
2. edit it in windows via acrobat
or
3. if you are adventurous, you can try

   (have ebuild for it if you need)

however i still think the most comfortableis to regenerate
it and check the numbers on few places if you are unsure.
