The fonts could be innocent, it could also have something to do with the way math insets are drawn and/or metrics calculation, since with instant preview on there is only the preview to be drawn. Ken, would it be possible to create a test document that shows the slowness and post a bug report at http://bugzilla.lyx.org ? Then we could investigate. Georg
