BTW, you should really file a bug report to Slackware LyX maintainers -- not making the proper symlink/copy is IMNHO bug and it should be fixed. Actually, Debian just doesn't install *.cls files into /usr/share/lyx/ tree but to its proper place in $TEXMF tree in the first place.
