Hi
Sorry for coming in late on this one. I'd like to add my voice to the
people who were perturbed by the automatic exporting of EPS files on
exporting of Latex.
* I usually export EPS files (foo.eps) from a program
* I then touch them up in Illustrator, saving them as foo.ai (for
editing) and foo.pdf (the PDF version is a stripped-down version,
without all the Adobe guff)
* I then insert them into lyx
* I sometimes export latex from lyx
* I then touch up the latex, and compile with pdflatex.
So the extra EPS files add no value to me (though it could be useful
one day). Obviously I can work around this, but I suggest that it
would be better to have an option to "Export Latex Bundle" or
something, that creates a new directory, which contains the latex file
and the necessary EPS files.
Fixed in what eventually will become lyx 1.5
There, you export->latex(pdflatex) when you want to run
pdflatex on the output later. Images and external insets will
then be prepared for a pdflatex run, not a latex run.
So no unnecessary conversion to .eps in this case.
You will still get a conversion if your image is of a kind that
cannot be included directly by pdflatex. (Images in PDF format
should be fine).
