re-generating microtype

Friends,

I'd like to re-generate the Microtype package (to enable the 
pdfadjustinterowrdglue option).
The instructions require me to look at the .ins .dtx files in the 
package.cab, edit out the comment: %\betatrue
and then generate a fresh package. Could anyone instruct me how to do 
this (especially the last part).
