The issue of uploading large files to the wiki has popped up a few times recently so I thought I'd explain what the problem is and how we work around it. I've tried to document uploading in general on this page

        http://wiki.lyx.org/Site/AboutUploading

The problem with using the wiki's mechanism is that the Apache server and/or PHP chokes on large files. As far as I know there is nothing we can do to work around this. This does however have the advantage that we don't have to worry too much about people using the site for sharing illegal material.

The solution for uploading a large file is to ask a developer (or me) with direct access to the server to place files there. You can ask a developer for help with this on one of the lists. (If you don't get a response soonish, just ask again).

For developers that want to help with uploading a file manually, they can find instructions here:

As for sending the file to the developer (which can be a problem if it is big!), I suggest you use a service such as

        http://www.yousendit.com/

to "email" it to the developer or to the developers' or the users' list.

/Christian

PS. If you have tips on other services similar to YouSendIt, please tell me about it or add them to the wiki page:
