Uwe,Thanks for the corrected file. I built a LyX doc (attached) to display all the characters from lib/symbols that were listed as being in the cmsy10 font. Two of them (lyxbar and lyxnot) are not known to LaTeX by those names, so I commented them out (but the glyphs showing in the GUI for them are plausible matches to their names). Every other character looked the same in the GUI as it does in the DVI output, so I think the cmsy10 file is a match to the GUI.
