One way is to use LyX's subfigure caption that is located under Extra Options of your Graphics object, but this introduces perhaps unwanted side effects (you gain a sub-figure, which is numbered (a), (b), (c), etc. by default). (If this interests you, take a look at the package "subfig", which offers numerous options.) Another quick way which should work... 1. Create your figure 2. Add graphic 3. Note/set width of graphic 4. Delete default "Figure #" 5. Add a LyX minipage below graphic (inside float) 6. Inside minipage using ERT add "\caption{Your caption goes here...}" 7.
