Just a quick update here. I found (accidentially) that the problem
was the eps file. After some googling, I have found that ghostview
creates postscript files which look much better.

PS: Actually, I was writing quite a long version of this e-mail, but
my mail program crashed in the middle ... *grrrr* No crashes with LyX
so far :-)
