Thanks to all who have answered. The picture that I have got is a PS file and corresponds to a small rectangular part of an entire part. How can I throw away the whole superfluous white space around the picture? I have tried GSview to convert the PS file to EPS with automatic calculation of the bound box, but all I get is a blank EPS file. Paul
