I agree with Paul to stick to latex denomination more closely. More generally, I personally think Lyx's main strength is as a Latex frontend as opposed to the aim of being a document preparation system for people without any latex knowledge at all. So as a general principle I think it would help the lyx users if latex and lyx speak the same language as much as possible.
Of course this is just IMHO and also biased given that I came to Lyx from latex, but just think about all the advices involving ERT. It seems to me that serious use of Lyx very often involves having to learn/understand at least the latex basics.
Please don't get me wrong, surely I am in no position to demand anything; it's just the direction I would like to see for the evolution of lyx.
