Wrong. The installer does nothing at all with any extra LaTeX .cls or .sty
files that we happen to distribute. If you want to use 'em you'll have to
make them visible to your particular flavour of LaTeX. Presumably, if
you're using MikTeX that will involve copying
  C:\Program Files\LyX\Resources\lyx\tex\hollywood.cls
to
  C:\MiKTeX\Local\tex\latex\hollywood\hollywood.cls
or similar and updating MikTeX's database of installed classes. Thereafter
run LyX's Edit->Reconfigure and restart LyX. The new LaTeX class should
now be picked up.

There's a difference between LyX .layout files and LaTeX .cls,.sty files.
The former will allow you to edit the document within LyX and the latter
enables you to typeset it on paper using the LaTeX machinery. Given that
you have
  C:\Program Files\LyX\Resources\lyx\layouts\hollywood.layout
I'd expect you to have an entry in the "Document class:" combobox of the
Layout->Document dialog that's something like: "Unavailable: hollywood".
If you select this entry, you'll be able to edit your document within LyX
but until you install the hollywood LaTeX .cls file, you won't be able to
typeset it.

Now why would that help any?

Well, *I* don't think so, but your opinion is your own.
