I'm having a persistent problem here, please try if you can reproduce it:
create an empty LyX doc
in preamble: \addpackage{colortbl}
create a table
insert some text in one cell
add ERT: \cellcolor{yellow} before the text
see if you can view DVI or if you get an error
If you get the error 'Undefined control sequence \cellcolor', which you
probably will, try replacing the \cellcolor with \rowcolor and it probably
works
Thing is, both should be valid according to the package doc's:

I'm at a loss here. I need to have table rows background colored (\rowcolor)
will do that but not including multicolumn cells, thats where \cellcolor or
\columncolor should come in ...
Please help if you can
