There are two tasks I find myself performing over and over again, and I'm wondering if they can be automated or set as defaults in LyX. The first is centering the "paragraph" in a float. I can't for the life of me figure out under what circumstances I would want a figure or a table to be anything but centered, and even if there were occasions when I would, I don't get why this is the default setting. Is there any way to change this?

Second, I don't particularly like the way the borders are handled in the default setting for "insert tabular material" in LyX. In everything I write, I like to have a border above and below the first row, and nowhere else. While this is pretty easy to change, of course, it gets tedious to do it multiple times. Is there anyway to make it so that LyX does this automatically, rather than the current default of borders everywhere, and two borders separating the first and second lines?

Matt
