I've always used latex-xft in linux. When I recently saw the
recommendation in favor of bakoma fonts, I decided to test that out. In
case you use linux with an rpm package manager, I think this package
will be a suitable replacement for latex-xft-fonts. If I can get a
couple of people to test and confirm they work for them, I'll figure how
to upload to the lyx server.

I include the src.rpm file in case you want to change the font install
directory, which here is /usr/share/fonts.
