Hi, You could use math-macro, by writing at LyX bottom line:
math-macro half Then at the left box of your macro, write half in the way you would like it to show. Now every time you would like to write 1/2, you could just type \half in math-type invaerment. P.S It doesn't need to the word half, you could give this symbol what kind of name you feel like and it would be suitable for this file only (unless you create this macro on anther files).
