Agreed; I think in my own specific situation here I will use Angus's original "use newcommand in the Preamble" suggestion. There, with clarifying comments, I can carefully organize all of this in one place. This seems to follow the KISS principle well, which at my stage of experience, is a Good Thing. Later on, I can mess with trying to customize or adapt an existing bst file. It's a nice idea, I think. My author writes about works of art and it seems logical to me to store such data (title, artist, h-size, v-size, medium, location, provenance, year, etc.) in a database of some kind from which one could pull the necessary fields as needed; this would greatly reduce the risk of typos and simplify changes, I think. -Kevin -- Kevin Pfeiffer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Tiros-Translations
