Using LyX 1.3.5/Mac...
I have placed a footnote in a figure float, which appears on a page with two other footnotes.
In the PDF output (pdflatex), where the note is placed in the float, it is given the number "4". The other two notes are numbered "2" and "5". The text for note 2 appears on the page with the note number, but the text for note 5 appears in the foot area of the following page. There is no note 3, and note 4 does not appear in the document.
I suppose that footnotes in floats must be fragile. Is there some way I can ensure that the notes all appear and are numbered properly, wherever they are put?
