I am giving a talk tonight on Lyx (in German, unfortunately) for the Linux User Group Tuebingen. What I plan to do is to use a small koma-script book style example in lyx and show the output parallel to it. After explaining the structure of the document and the way lists and tables are set in Lyx I show the handling of figures both without and with floats, how to produce figures (mentioning gimp for bitmapped and xfig for vector graphics and PSTricks), math-stuff, formats, styles, margins, references and bibtex (pybliographer and lyxpipe), index. All of it is kept brief, since the help files of Lyx are quite good. The main aim is to show people the ease of using Lyx in a simple example and give them a start kick. Note that I am not using a formal presentation (such as beamer), but lyx as it is and the dvi or ps output. For PSTricks I use chapter 7 of the online LaTex tutorial of the Indian TeX Users group (tug.org.in) which is quite good and a short example in the book example. I also give an example of the beamer presentation style in Lyx. If you want me to send the example book to you privately (its short) let me know. Tomorrow I can also tell you how the talk was received. Wolfgang
