I have an equation that's rather long and the lengthy exponent on the end
sticks into the right margin. According to TCL2, Section 8.2.3 (page 471), I
can use the multiline environment to put a single equation on several lines:
no alignment. Right now the environment is display mode.

I put the cursor within the mathmode box and selected Edit->Math->Change
formula type->Multiline environment. But, when I saved the document, then
pressed ctrl-d to view the typeset page, I got two errors.

What's the trick to converting display mode to multiline mode in LyX?

Thanks,

Rich
